Diversity: Petrosaviaceae comprise two genera (Japonolirion and Petrosavia) and four species. All three species of Petrosavia are fully mycoheterotrophic.
Distribution and habitat: Petrosaviaceae occur in Southeast Asia and Japan. The only species of Japonolirion is restricted to serpentine swamps in central and northern Japan, while Petrosavia occurs in forests in Southeast Asia and southern Japan.
